General Motors went after former Tesla employees

Tesla laid off many of its employees, including many high-level officials, last month. General Motors is working to hire Tesla's former employees.

Tesla wants to compensate for the blows it has received from falling sales and price cuts by laying off more than 10 percent of its global workforce. This means more than 13 thousand employees.

Last week, several students revealed that Tesla had canceled their internship offers just weeks before their positions were to begin.

General Motors executive Laura del Amo announced that the company is interested in hiring software students whose positions have been canceled as part of Tesla's upcoming summer internship group.

A spokesperson made the following statement regarding the recruitment announcement:

We are always looking for new talent, especially in areas such as engineering, software development and electrification. We welcome applicants to our intern programs. GM is a great place to start a career.

It is known that GM has hired former Tesla employees before. In February, the Detroit-based company hired former Tesla executive Kurt Kelty as vice president of battery technology.
