Alfa Romeo Milano Angered Italy

The Italian government reacted to Alfa Romeo's model named "Milano", which will be sold with both electric and hybrid options.

Alfa Romeo announced the name of its highly anticipated new model in the B-SUV segment in recent months.

"Milano", the first sports city vehicle in the brand's history and whose 100 percent electric version will be offered to world markets, has been officially introduced.

The world launch of Alfa Romeo Milano pays homage to Milan, the city from which it takes its name and where everything about the brand began on June 24, 1910.

The car will be produced at the factory in Tychy, Poland, and will also be the first Alfa Romeo model produced entirely outside Italy.

Italian Business Minister Adolfo Urso criticized Stellantis' decision to produce Alfa Romeo's first fully electric vehicle (EV) Milano in a different country and said that this was against the law.

In his statement, Minister Urso referred to a 2003 law banning statements that could mislead consumers and said, "A car named Milan cannot be produced in Poland. This is prohibited under Italian law." said.

Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares announced that producing the Milano model in Poland reduced costs.
